Popularity of tennis

A lot of people probably think that tennis is sliding in popularity at the expense of team sports. That may be so, but you can’t tell from walking around here. The total attendence for each of the first six days was more than 60,000 — a feat achieved just seven times in U.S. Open history prior to this year.
Considering that Arthur Ashe Stadium holds just 23,763 per session, that’s a lot of people buying grounds passes.
Walking around the grounds this week, I haven’t noticed a difference from years past, which means that the USTA has done a good job of controlling crowds and I have done a good job eating at non-peak times. Has anyone else noticed more people around when they went?
