Unbalanced schedule

September
4

For the whole tournament, the Williams sisters have played on the same day. But Serena has the stage to herself tonight — Henin-Serena is the only women’s singles quarterfinal scheduled for today, leaving the other three for tomorrow.

Throw in the fact that Nadal is also playing tonight, and you have a very unbalanced schedule, where Moya and Djokovic are your afternoon headliners.

I’m covering the day session (Josh has the lucky night ticket), but I’ll try and uncover some nuggets for all the hardcore tennis fans following along — I don’t think the casual fan is turning in today.

Incidentally, I think tomorrow will be the same thing — Roddick-Federer and Venus-Jankovic at night, and who knows what during the day. We will see.

Djokovic is the real deal – he’s got a great all-court game. Go watch him and you’ll see why he’s a legitimate threat to Federer, which I think the men’s game desperately needs.
