Anyone for tennis?

News and notes from the U.S. Open

Serena-Henin finally take Ashe

September
4

Boy, that was the longest day session ever considering there were only a few matches today. For us, it makes the job much more difficult, but I doubt you care much about that.

This is a huge match tonight. Justine Henin has a great opportunity here to put a stamp on her career. You say, oh, come on…she’s won six majors! Still, Henin, who has only defeated Serena once on a surface other than clay (this year at Wimbledon) would really add to her resume as an all-court player with a win tonight.

In other news, I feel terrible for anyone who had night session tickets tonight. They are still pouring through the turnstiles outside Ashe because the backup was so great following the Novak Djokovic. I think the U.S. Open likes to run late night, but it’s a little unfair to the fans who pay those huge prices for tickets.
