Kuznetsova through

The 2004 U.S. Open women’s champion Svetlana Kuznetsova needed just 13 minutes to go up 4-0 in her eventual win over Victoria Azarenka today, but things got a little harder after that.

At least her win means that one slightly familiar name advances to the quarterfinals in the sagging half of the women’s draw, where she will face Agnes Szavay, an 18-year-old from Hungary. It’s not exactly must see TV for most Americans, especially when the other side of the draw is loaded.

Tomorrow, Justine Henin will meet Serena Williams and Venus Williams will take on Jelena Jankovic, who she has lost to.

Does this mean she lost a game in the 2nd set>???
Here we see the biggest diffference between the mens and womens draws
Henin et al. are still able to run off 6-0, 6-1 wins in the 2nd week of this tournament.
How many mens matches end 6-2, 6-1, 6-1. Roddicks dispatch of Johansson is about the closest thing that comes to mind.

Agnes did well to reach the Pilot pen final, but got the deer in the headlights there. Will she be comforted by the cozy confines of Ashe’s 20,000 arena?
Although who is going to be there watching>? CBS was hardly wishing for a Kuznetzova-Szavay match.
